Sample Preparation Supervisor

Job Summary: This role exists to supervise the Laboratory Physical Analysts in order to to meet all departmental and plant directives in safety, quality and production. 

Responsibilities:

• Supervision of sample preparation analysts
• Ensure proper inventory of tooling and parts for CNC mills, lathes, and saws
• Manage daily inventory of outstanding test results and investigate and resolve outstanding issues
• Management of staffing levels for sample preparation area
• Maintain strong communications with outside testing facilities
• Maintain conformance to quality of sample preparation and assist with audit preparations
• Ensure lab is meeting targeted departmental KPIs
• Minimize departmental downtime
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S to both departmental and plant standards
• Keep overtime and staffing cost within the department’s budget.
• Ensure corrective action is taken on any attendance issues or code of conduct violations
• Ensure deliveries are on schedule and the timely results of testing to achieve prompt shipments to customers.
• Assist other employees within the lab along with covering staff absentees.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Technical Field, Associate Degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or 10 years or industrial or lab production experience, required
• Supervisory or management experience, required
• Excellent communication skills, required
• Flexibility in handling multiple demands and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment, required
• Proficiency in PC (Microsoft Word ,Excel, SAP, inventory management programs, etc.), required
• Working Knowledge of CNC Machines, Equipment and Tooling, strongly preferred
